Bowlcuts opens a downtown dining room on Boston Avenue
Emma Shirley’s fast-casual bowl shop, a Kitchen 66 graduate, now has a Deco District room on South Boston — weekdays, with a shorter Monday.

Owner and founder Emma Shirley opened at 522 South Boston Avenue, Suite 104, in the Deco District. KTUL reports she is a graduate of Kitchen 66 at Mother Road Market, the program built to give food entrepreneurs affordable kitchen space. Before the Boston Avenue dining room, Bowlcuts ran pop-ups, meal-prep delivery, and catering.
The concept is fast-casual bowls, made to order. Shirley told KTUL that about 90 percent of the ingredients stay raw until an order comes in, and that the kitchen sources from the local farmers market when it can. In that story, Kitchen 66’s Abel Aguilar speaks positively about her progress since she came through the program.
Check the hours before you plan a weekend. KTUL described the restaurant as closed on weekends, with reduced hours on Monday and Tuesday–Friday service from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The restaurant’s own site is a little more specific: Monday 11 a.m.–3 p.m., the same Tuesday–Friday window, Sunday closed, and Saturday by special event. That site also lists a secondary Friday pop-up at Hillcrest Utica, 11 a.m.–2 p.m., apart from the downtown room.
